Have you ever seen those super cute date idea pins on Pinterest?
(The Dating Divas have the best ideas too!)
You can also visit my Pinterest page and look at a bunch of date ideas here
Well, I love looking at them because I love finding new ideas especially CHEAP ideas for dates with my man. Living in a small town in Central NY can make it VERY EASY to run out of things to do. I also have found that it is Super important to make sure you set aside time to go on dates even after marriage. Both Ryan and I are extremely busy people with full time jobs on top of being campus ministers so it is easy to push aside date night. So for our 2nd anniversary this year I decided to make my own date jar full of date ideas to give to Ryan.
I kind of took a bunch of ideas from all different pins and combined them into one jar. There are a total of 30 dates in this jar. I made 10 of them as "free dates" which are the orange ones. 10 of them as "more expensive dates" which are the red ones and then the last 10 are "$2 dates" which are the coral ones that are wrapped up with $2 inside. This way if some week we really don't have any extra money we can just avoid picking a red one.
So it's pretty much self explanatory how to assemble. I came up with 30 date ideas gathered from other pins and made PDF's of them and printed them out and cut them. The PDF's I made are below, feel free to print it out and use them!
Afterwards I cut them out into strips and rolled them up attaching $2 to the 10 that were $2 dates and fastened them with bobby pins, haha. I didn't actually have enough rubber bands but of course they still all had to match! So I had to be resourceful and use what I had. It actually ended up looking better than if they were rubber banded!
After that I went searching through my many mason jars and other glass jars that I had collected for our wedding and found that this cookie/candy jar worked out the best! (The mason jars ended up being too small) So I filled it up with the dates and tied some Twinery twine (the best twine!) around it, added a cute little homemade sign and Voila! If you have a boyfriend or are married I hope you enjoy having a lovely date this week! Do something different!
Thanks for taking the time to read my post!
Best, Kimmy

ReplyDeleteYou have this so we can customize it (like the Brooks restaurant name)??
ReplyDeleteJessica! Sorry I didn't respond before! Life got crazy and I haven't been able to attend to my blog! I am glad you asked this because I thought I changed all the date ideas to make them generic for anyone to use! So thank you for calling it to my attention- I will change it tonight and make it generic and hopefully editable (not sure how to do that but I bet I can easily find out!) Thanks for reading my blog!
DeleteI fixed it, Jessica. It's not editable but I just made it generic so you can make it work for whatever awesome restaurants you have in your neighborhood! Thanks again for calling it to my attention =)
